Which sources does Lauyer search?+
Lauyer searches Diário da República for Portuguese legislation and official publications, and DGSI for court decisions. It does not currently provide a dedicated source for European Union directives.
When should I start with Diário da República?+
Start with Diário da República when you need to identify an act, official publication, published wording, date, or related instruments. Then confirm status and relevant amendments in the official text.
When should I start with DGSI?+
Start with DGSI when the question depends on how courts have decided, interpreted, or applied a rule. Select relevant decisions and read the available text and procedural context.
Can I research legislation and case law in the same matter?+
Yes. Many questions require identifying the published rule first and then finding decisions that apply it. The tools remain separate so each search can use terms, filters, and dates suited to its source.
Do I receive the full text of documents?+
Lauyer retrieves the public content made available by the source, including full text when it exists on the official page. Availability and content structure depend on Diário da República or DGSI.
Are results always complete and current?+
No. Every search queries the source when requested, but availability, coverage, and indexing depend on the official source. Your selected terms, filters, and dates also shape the results.
What are AI summaries for?+
They support triage and initial understanding of an act or decision. They can omit exceptions or misread the text. Always confirm material statements at the original source and check later developments.
Can I include confidential information or personal data?+
Avoid professional secrets, unpublished facts, and unnecessary personal data. Search terms go to the source queried. For an AI summary, the relevant legal text also goes to the AI providers described in the AI and data information.
Which AI client do I need?+
You need a Lauyer account and an AI client supporting remote HTTP MCP and OAuth. Authorization takes place in the browser. Confirm these capabilities in your client’s current documentation.
Does Lauyer replace a commercial legal database?+
No. Lauyer provides structured access to the public sources it integrates, but does not provide doctrine, its own editorial annotation, or every feature of a commercial legal database.
Does Lauyer provide legal advice?+
No. Lauyer helps search, retrieve, and summarize sources. Selecting, interpreting, and applying information to a specific matter requires professional assessment and confirmation at the official source.
Why do searches and summaries have separate limits?+
Searching or retrieving a source uses request units. Generating a summary also calls an AI provider and uses a separate allowance. This distinction lets you access sources without automatically turning every request into an AI operation.
